Early Thursday afternoon Caroline, from the Parish Council, called with a very quick and easy question - "I am worried that the documents I put up on the website can be modified to change people's comments from meeting notes. Could we purchase something that will allow me to create PDF files and post this on the web instead?"
Now the simple answer is yes you can buy something to give you this functionality, however there is a free and easy to use application we advise using if you would just like to create PDF files. We recommend using PDFCreator, which is open source and free. It works just like a printer, except it does not print out hard copies but saves a PDF file of the document you requested to print. So, it's not just for Word: you can create a PDF from any program that has a print facility. Caroline was a lot happier posting up documents to her website, safe in the knowledge that they could not be so easily modified.
