Save money on your electricity and reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.

What we are really talking about is saving electricity by turning off devices when they're not in use.  We have a few laser printers in our office that were consuming electricity overnight and at the weekend when we had no need to print.  To reduce this overhead we installed 7-day electronic timer plugs, automatically turning off the device at night and back on in the morning.  We estimate that installing these devices on all our printers will save us almost £100 per year and saves 800 Kg of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere  (see this site for a cost saving calculator)

We have a computer in the office that powers a couple of wall mounted screens that displays monitoring information.  With a simple change to the PC's BIOS settings and a little bit of scripting we scheduled the computer to turn on in the morning shut down at night.  This may only save us £3.40 a year but if you apply this to all the client PCs in your business the savings really start to add up.
