Our Client provides management systems in the South of England, for health and safety; quality assurance; environmental management and human resources. It is owned and run by a husband and wife team.
Our client recently invested in a small business server network to centralise their data and e-mail. They wanted to be sure that in case of a disaster they could restore their data, e-mail and server. Additionally, they wanted the reassurance that if they accidently deleted or modified a file a backup was available and could quickly be restored.
Our Solution
Telanova's solution was to provide the Bambu™ backup software. This full featured professional level backup solution can be configured in a number of different environments to suit business needs. For our client the small business model was most appropriate. This uses a local PC to store the backups of their data, exchange mailboxes and server system state. The data is then replicated across the internet to an offsite replication server.
Using this system the backup and restore of the data to the local PC is very quick and reliable; and data is further protected by replicating it to a secure offsite datacenter. This offers many advantages over more traditional types of backup. There is no need to swap over and manage tapes or USB drives the backups occur in the background with no user intervention required. The data is not directly replicated over the internet so the backups are very quick but also have additional security of being replicated over the internet. After the intitial full data transfer, the subsequent backups are incremental, only the data has changed is backed up, this also speeds up the backup process and reduces the bandwidth consumption through replicating the data to the internet.
