USB Device not recognised.

The full error message is : One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it

The most common cause of this issue is that the device attached went to sleep, and now the laptop wants to write to or read from it and it isn't able to wake the device.

Starting with the simple steps would be to unplug the device, power the device off, wait for 15 seconds, then power it back on, and then plug it back in to the PC/Laptop.

The next step to cover the possibility that the PC / Laptop isn't recognising any USB devices would be to power off the PC/Laptop and wait 15 seconds, then power it back up again, and see if it is now recognised.

After this, if possible, plug the device into another USB port, and again if possible try a different USB cable.

After this your steps are likely going to involve reinstalling drivers, installing updates, and checking BIOS versions, and you'll need some expert IT Support
